Have you heard those words before? It always strikes me as a bit disrespectful of the audience. The speaker knows the material can’t be read, yet shows it anyway.

Why? I think the intent is to convey “Look! Lots of numbers! I did a lot of work.” It’s a bit lazy. Instead, try to use the power of language, not PowerPoint, to get your message across. Imagine writing the material with a crayon. Bold tones. Bold thoughts.

Not fine print.

YOU want to be the message. Frustrated eye-squinting won’t help that.

If you do need slides — and certainly there are times when they are necessary — think of them as wallpaper which enhances your delivery rather than derailing it.
